Answer 3

You Put The Wrong Emphasis On The Wrong Syllable

Answer 2

It’s a quote from the movie “View From the Top” starring Gwyneth Paltrow. I think Mike Myers plays a teacher for stewardess’ and one of his student miss pronounces something and he lets them know what they said wrong. It’s a great movie that also has Christina Applegate and Mark Ruffalo.

It annoys me no end because it’s an abuse of the beautiful English language! Like teenagers who always elevate their pitch at the end of a sentence to make it a question – get some self-confidence! And in answer to the SatNav (emphasised correctly, as it is but an abbreviation) question – I say map! It does illustrate our society’s need to abbreviate though, which is an ugly American trait. We’re not lazy and fat here, why do we allow the laziness that is abbreviation in our language?
