self engrandisᴇмᴇɴt – does it mean boasting or egotistic?

self aggrandizement

Answer 1

Self aggrandisᴇмᴇɴt is the act (or some would call it an art) of making oneself seem more important than they actually are.
Sir John Falstaff in Merry Wives of Windsor and Henry 1V part one is a good exemplar.
It is for me, both boasting and egocentric.

Answer 2

it begins with your inner self. Love brought to you by others helps, but really no one can make us feel anything we don’t want to. No one makes us angry, happy, or sad…. those are emotions we allow ourselves to experience. We could all use a lesson from Monks who devote their lives to finding harmony with nature and have a life long quest for knowledge…unfortunately we’ve allowed ourselves to be enslaved with the illusion of money and the false rewards it brings. Now if you don’t mind.. I’ve got to search for a new tv and some more PS3 games…

Answer 3

Bit of both, I’d say.
